Clouds and Sunset

Swiftly moving clouds took over the sky this
afternoon...

but the clouds moved on and left a mostly
clear sky just in time for a
vibrant sunset!

It was also very warm today in Maine...
I'd say close to 70 degrees!

Through the Mist

Early this morning
a misty fog hung in the air...

while the colors of autumn still lingered.

Autumn in Kennebunkport

The colors of autumn are so beautiful

and so fleeting...

Potato Harvest

It took all day on Thursday to harvest
our potatoes!
I didn't realize how many D had planted!

...much digging and searching
and brushing off
the dirt.

then the question was where to put
them all to dry out before we store them.

The only available space large enough
was our living room floor and they took
up the entire space but we had more
so some went upstairs ...you can see
who is checking those out by clicking here.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to
store them for the winter?

Good thing we love potatoes!
Do you have any favorite potato recipes to share?

First Carrot

D planted carrots in our vegetable garden a new way
and didn't know what to expect.
He dug up the first carrot today and was happily
surprised!

10-10-10

Today is our anniversary...
was a beautiful clear day
with a wonderful surprise
visit from someone we knew long ago
that we hadn't seen in a very long time
and we met his family! Very special!

The Sky and the Sea

I love clouds

and
on Thursday I was delighted by the clouds
and the sea...

by evening, the clouds rolled out
leaving a calm and beautiful
sunset...

A Summer Day in October

After Friday's gray mist,
clouds and drizzle, today was so clear...

It felt like a summer day at the beach.

saw a group of teenagers run into the
freezing cold ocean!

I love seeing the shadows of the gulls...

Walking at High Tide

Yesterday we had the possibility of a big rain storm
but it held off for the most part.
We did get high surf and a misty gray day at the beach.
I found it invigorating to take a walk in the late afternoon.

In the Garden

Friday brought the threat of rain and a wind storm
so I ventured out into the vegetable garden early in the morning to
gather some Swiss Chard.

Fortunately, it never reached us with the full force,
just some light sprinkles!

I love the color of this morning glory!
