The Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse

We were lucky to have a clear night to watch the 

magical full moon rise over the ocean and 

the cormorants who flew in to the island for the night.

the bonus was the lunar eclipse...

Looking for the Full Moon

So very cold and windy tonight…

we ventured out in search of the full moon rising.

It was getting  dark and there was a layer of 

clouds on the horizon.

As it got darker, I saw a pinkish orange glow...

and then it appeared through clouds…

mysterious….

The full moon resembled a very large pumpkin tonight.

The moon rose around 6 pm., very pale in the sky

but very beautiful.

Easy to miss, so look closely.

 

Watching sea birds fly to their island as the sunsets.

The beautiful August moon rose last night over 

the ocean...

It peeked through the shops in Dock Square...

Waiting for the Moon

While waiting for the full moon to rise last night

we saw this

 

chevron fly by.

 

For some time it hid behind a low cloud bank

and finally I saw a hint of pink

and then the brilliant glow...

 

So beautiful!

Hazy Foggy Evenings and the Moon

For several evenings the clouds and fog prevented

us from seeing the full moon but last night

we were lucky.

Though it was a hazy evening with some fog

the moon made an appearance.
Serenity and peacefulness...

The Full Moon

We went to the beach last night in anticiptation

of seeing the full moon rising.

We were not sure which direction it would rise 

and a thin layer of clouds was low on the horizon.

Then mysteriously it appeared, peeking over the clouds,

pale and beautiful over a calm ocean.
