Sunday Delight

Surprise...the snowdrops are blooming in a patch
of snow in our garden.

We took a lovely walk along the Marginal Way
in Ogunquit this afternoon as many others
were out also enjoying the walk and majestic views.

The greatest surprise was to discover these amazing
Harlequin ducks along the way.
See more over here.

Had never seen anything like them before!

Though the Harbor Candy Shop was closed
we couldn't resist peeking in the window!

Marginal Way

A change of scenery tonight as we approached
the Marginal Way in Ogunquit.

Always so uplifting to walk along it's path
on cliffs overlooking the ocean.

Spotted a single daffodil in bloom.

As the sky darkened a small light in the lighthouse
appeared.

Special Day

Was magical to wake up on my birthday and
see a dusting of snow...the first snow of the year...
actually the first snow since the October snow storm!

We wandered down the coast...

and came upon a beautiful sky and sea birds...over here.

took a brisk walk along the Marginal Way in Ogunquit...

and window shopped at Harbor Candy Shop in Ogunquit...

Upon returning home, up in the night sky a beautiful
ring had formed around the moon.

It's the little things that make a day so special!

Roses Along the Marginal Way

Saturday evening ( last night) we took a ride to
Ogunquit in hopes of finding a parking
space near the Marginal Way.
I had a yearning to walk along the footpath
overlooking the ocean when the beach roses
are blooming.
After getting a little bit lost on the back
roads, we found the spot where we can park for free.
It was so beautiful and we had just enough time,
before the sun set, to take it all in.

I'd like to share the walk with you via my photos.

We noticed this lovely quote along the way,
just after an experience with a chipmunk
which was most appropriate on many levels.

"Everybody needs beauty as well as bread,
places to play in and pray in,
where nature may heal and cheer
and give strength to body and soul alike."
John Muir

To see what I mean click here to visit my
Furry and Feathered Friends blog and meet
this unusual chipmunk.
I stopped to photograph the chippy
and then others stopped, til the chipmunk looked like
a celebrity who wasn't phased by an audience.

Ogunquit

What should we do this afternoon?
The strong winds of the morning brought
sunshine in the afternoon, a very clear light.
D suggested we head south to Ogunquit,
Maine ( about 17 miles from home) .
What a wonderful decision it turned out to be.

After a stop in the Harbor Candy Shop where
we were lucky to find some chocolate in the
bargain basket, we started
walking and ended up on the Marginal Way.

It was so beautiful way up high on the rocky
cliffs overlooking the sea...so majestic!
It was just what we needed. Sometimes it
is good to be spontaneous and
just get away for a little while to
clear one's mind and just enjoy the moment
without feeling guilty that you
should be doing something else.
