Wishing All A Peaceful 2010

Seeing the beach late this afternoon as darkness
approached was especially beautiful...the last
night of the year 2009.

A light snow fell during the day, dusting the
rocky coast with a powdered sugar appearance!

Further down the dark road, the lights from the
Cape Arundel Inn looked so festive and warm.
Looking up from the street into the windows
of the dining room, the decorations for a New Year's Eve
celebration could be seen and we could imagine that soon
folks would be arriving to dine and celebrate in style!
We continued on our way, back to our cozy little home
to spend a quiet evening appreciating what we have,
being with our cats and thinking of our family
and friends.
Wishing you all a wonderful New Year!

Through the Windows

I've been feeling the effects of a bad cold since
Saturday...been staying in and resting with my
loyal companion
, Brody the cat.
Just glanced out of the back upstairs
window as the sun sets
on another day.
I yearn to see the sea!
Oh, to my surprise, when I peeked out of the
front window on the stairs, there was the full moon!
Made my heart sing!

Actually, I flew out of the house for a split
second, into the freezing night air so I
could have another view!

A Winter Memory

Early last January, when I was at my parent's
home on a very snowy day, I glanced out of
their upstairs window, admiring the softly
falling snow when suddenly out of all of
the whiteness, a lovely couple taking
a walk added a magical feeling... something
that touched me...I knew I wanted to remember
that moment with my ink and watercolors.

A Dramatic Sky

So glad to have managed
to take a walk along the shore
in the late afternoon
as the sun was disappearing...
the sky was so dramatic!

A Warm Glow on a Cold Night

Was just before the sun set as we drove through
Dock Square on the way to the beach so I could
take a much needed walk in the cold night air!
Brrrrrr, my hands felt like ice cubes!

Old Port Playhouse Gallery

It was one week ago, I was in the midst of preparing
for a weekend of craft fairs for the Christmas Prelude in
Kennebunkport, when the phone rang.
It was the director of the Old Port Playhouse
( which opened in October) in Portland, Maine
and he was looking for an artist to
show in their art gallery during the run of "A Christmas Carol"
that started that night!
The artist scheduled had unexpectedly
canceled. I decided to go for it and scrambled to
put together a show which D and I brought to Portland
very early the next morning.
When we arrived at the door, we were greeted by a gentle
Victorian Bulldog. His name turned out to be "Cooper"!
Hmmmm, I thought that must be a good sign for we share
the same name!

It was a lovely intimate space and everything just fit!

The whole experience had a very magical feeling
and the Old Port Playhouse is wonderful.
Have a look at their website by clicking on their name above.
It is located at 19 Temple Street, Portland, Maine.

My art show will be there through December 20th.

I'm so thankful that Michael called me!

A Snowy Day Mixed With Rain

The snow was falling in fine flakes
early this morning but as the day
moved on, the snow mixed with
rain creating a heavy slushy mixture!

ps.
It is now later in the evening, as I opened the front
door to venture over to the studio, I could
hear a constant and loud roaring sound...
it is the sound of the surf that is about 2 miles away!
There must be a very tumultuous ocean tonight!

So serene, the reflection tonight as the sun set
along the way to the beach...

Have a Seat

Well, I guess the autumn is gone for another
year, winter is upon us!

Early Morning...Snow

Was still dark as I opened the front door
very early this morning to be greeted with
fresh snow that had softly fallen overnight.

The sky lightened with a ring around the moon!

Into my studio with snowy boots to finish
packing for "Breakfast with An Artist"
at the Nonantum Hotel.

The Moon on the Eve of December 1st

Tonight as I stepped out of the house to
walk over to the studio, I again was surprised to see the mystical
ring around the moon as it peeked through the layers
of clouds....an hour later the clouds had vanished
leaving a clear night sky and a bright moon.
