About to take a walk along the
shore tonight when I spotted the
eiders surfing in the waves at
high tide.
Though the beach was quickly
disappearing in regards to taking
a walk, as the tide
was approaching the seawall,
it was perfect for watching the eiders
navigate the big surf!

Those waters look so rough for such small birds. Since nesting season has passed, we don't see our local ducks very often.

Great pics of the surfing eiders! Is that a sailboat on the horizon in the first pic?
Marnie,
The waves were so rough, they were a very brave bunch! There was another contingent of ducks further out who looked like they were heading in to see what the closer to shore ducks had found but the waves were tooooo much for that group and they headed back out to calmer waters.
quiltcat,
the boat in the distance is the Pineapple Ketch and they give daily sightseeing trips out of Kennebunkport. It looks so spectacular when you see it with it's red maroon sails. There's a Schooner called the Eleanor that also gives sailing trips. We've never been on either but it sure looks wonderful from the shore!
It's amazing how rough the waves can get, and yet nature manages to get through it. Those ducks know what they are doing!
Those ducks are precious! It amazes me how relaxed they look in that water.
Nan I just adore the notecards you designed! They really are wonderful!
Brody just leaps out of the picture you posted of him, I feel like I could reach out and pet those chubby cheeks! I just love his eyes too!
Ellie May really does look like she's keeping an eye on your notecards, making sure no one messes with them! You have wonderful helpers!
Amy :o)
Purple Flowers,
So true! We tend to worry about things like that but by nature they seem to know what to do!
Amy,
I fell in love with those ducks...could watch them for hours!
Thanks so much for your comment about the note cards and my advertising cat helpers!
ps.
Hope you are feeling better!
That looks like such fun. What great little ducks :)
