Hi Nan. What a lovely portrait you did of your mother way back then...your artistic talent definitely was showing even then. I love your official title and unofficial title for her...my sister and i did the same thing for my mother. It's been a year and a half since my mother passed away and i still think about her every day. I had brunch with my father yesterday and he said wistfully how much she would have liked the retirement community where he is living now, so he thinks about her constantly, too. The love remains and glows in our memories...the pain of loss gets a bit less sharp as time goes on.
How sweet of you to post this drawing of your mom you made as a child. My heart goes out to you, you will miss her dearly. After a while you will keep the lovely memories and the breaking of your heart as she had to pass will subside. Please be not ashamed to put her in watercolor tears. You are on your own now. Bless you. Godeliva van Ariadone
This is such a sweet tribute to your mom, Nan. How wonderful that she encouraged your talent and that you still have this lovely portrait. My heart goes out to you at this time of sadness and loss.
May you have strong, good memories to comfort you as you get used to the world without your Mom. I am so sorry to hear of your loss, Nan. Keeping you in my thoughts...

** So sorry you lost your Mom when you were so young
*** You were born with talent ...
JC,
Sadly, I actually lost her 2 weeks ago,
that was a drawing I had done of her when I was 8.
Oh, my mistake ... glad to hear that you had so many fabulous years with her.
Still sorry to hear that she past. My Mom has been gone for nine years now. I still have her coat in my closet.
Nan, I'm so sorry for your loss. I remember that you said you were going through a difficult time.
Your drawing is precious. I'm glad you shared it.
Hi Nan, I'm so sorry for your loss. We are saying the long goodbye to my Mom. She has dementia and altho she is healthy, she isn't really there.
