A Warm Spell

It was warm enough today to actually take a
walk on the beach without freezing!
It was in the low 40's which felt like a heat wave!
To our amazement, when we drove down Ocean Ave.
in Kennebunkport, we saw a gathering of bluebirds!
I have only seen them a few time in the mild seasons,
so to see them in the middle of January was astonishing.
We noticed they were eating flies that must have hatched
from the seaweed! Very unusual for this time of year
in Maine!

Am working on a painting
of these magical bluebirds over
here with the help of my artist
cat helper, Ellie May.

Such a lovely photo, Nan. It was warmer here, too, but still there was a chilly breeze. I love the little bluebird "parked" on the sign!

Judy Hartman,
Thanks! Amazing how we can think low 40's feels warm, but after single numbers and wind it really feels very tolerable! We are going back today to see if perhaps the bluebirds are still around...

I wonder if these are very early scouts looking for nesting sites...or maybe they're bluebirds from further north looking for "warmer" climes!
