Here and There

The Harvest Moon rose in the
late afternoon.

a hint of England in New England

Yesterday as we were heading home from a walk
on the beach, traveling along the back roads,
it struck me that this scene could be in England.

There are houses like that in our part of England, but they tend to be in older more affluent villages :)

Hi Kim,
I'm always imagining England as being very quaint and old with much character.
I'd love to see more of your part of England!

There are villages in the UK that are so beautiful that they make you want to stay there forever. Soft and mellow cotswold stone, the granite in the Dales, dressed flint in the East, slate and rough mountain stone in areas of Wales. The houses are unique to their geography and blend in seamlessly with the countryside around them...

However (and I am sorry to be unromantic) the are also pockets of unrelieved ugliness. Utilitarian architecture of the worst and most unsympathetic kind. It is a mixed bag most of the time much like everywhere else really.
