Beautiful but cold! Nice to see the sun shining a bit, though. I like the row of plovers? sandpipers? just like the little guys on one of your bookmarks!
Hi quiltcat, the sun is shining today as well as yesterday...I hadn't realized til I watched the news last night that the 5 inches of snow we had was nothing compared to inland and further north in Maine....over two feet in some areas with widespread power outages. Whew, I feel we were very lucky to miss the power outages on this round. Oh, actually those are seagulls, but it's funny for when I first noticed them they resembled sandpipers...somehow they looked smaller...maybe it was the cold air! take care, Nan
I'm glad you missed the worst of the storm. Your state made the national news for the power outages.
That first photo is so lovely. I notice things like the houses, very different from ours here in the prairie states. I wonder how much it costs to heat a house exposed to all that wind from the sea;) Marnie
Hi Marnie, I love the character of the big old "cottages" along the coast... most are empty in the winter and some only have summer water, which limits their use in the colder months. A few years ago, friend who lives in Massachusetts came up in April with her neighbor who had a big old family house on the Maine coast. They nearly froze even with a fire in the fireplace.
I'm an artist/illustrator specializing in ink and watercolors and photography. My little studio in Maine is nestled in our garden by a babbling brook. Everyday I draw inspiration from the pets who have touched my life, our garden, birds and wildlife critters, quaint old houses, children, shells, scenes of the seaside and more.
Hope to share my art and observations with you and don't forget to take a moment to notice the precious little things around you.
