Hollyhocks

I love hollyhocks!
They remind me of Marblehead,
Massachusetts, where they even grow
out of the cracks in the sidewalks.

I had given my parents a print
of my painting of hollyhocks.

It's cheering to see it on this gray
rainy day in Connecticut.

I will be at
my parents' house another week and
maybe by the time I return home to
Maine we will have more flowers
blooming besides the crocuses.

Nancy,
You are so right about Hollyhocks. Those bright flags that announce summer has finally arrive!
Now if only the japanese beetles would leave them alone.Arrgh!

Hope to catch up with you one of these days! Wish I could catch the birds here making nests like you do.

Hi Judy,
those japanese beetles can be tough on the hollyhocks and roses, hoping this year they won't be plentiful.
