Now that I feel that spring is in the air, I'm dreaming of lilacs! Must have patience for in Maine we probably won't see them blooming until the beginning of June.
A lovely painting of my two favorite things, cats and lilacs. The leaf buds are swelling now so we will probably have blooms before June. I look forward to lilac time every year, wonderful but very short. Marnie
What a sweet painting! is that Polly, the kitchen goddess, in her basket? I love lilacs, too. Not sure if mine will bloom this year...have to go look for flower buds when i get home tonight!
Gemma, thanks so much for your comment! We were lucky today to see sunshine but the clouds and rain are returning soon.
Marnie, My husband has been collecting lilacs for quite some time... many years ago we were visiting Ken Berdeen, a local man who bred lilacs in his backyard in Kennebunk. As we wandered through his collection with him he picked a beautiful bouquet of lilacs and gave them to me. My husband tried rooting them and many of them took so now we have some very special and unusual lilacs and they remind us of Ken. I always look forward to them, too!
quiltcat, That sure is Polly in her counter basket! I hope your lilacs bloom this year!
I'm an artist/illustrator specializing in ink and watercolors and photography. My little studio in Maine is nestled in our garden by a babbling brook. Everyday I draw inspiration from the pets who have touched my life, our garden, birds and wildlife critters, quaint old houses, children, shells, scenes of the seaside and more.
Hope to share my art and observations with you and don't forget to take a moment to notice the precious little things around you.
