Kita Cat lives across the way in a horse barn but yesterday morning she found her way to our yard. She is extremely friendly and seems to love to help D work in the garden.
Many years ago my 'huge' cat Voodoo was an outside cat. One day while I was pulling weeds he jumped on my back. It startled me and I stood up fast. To keep from falling he hung on with his claws. I thought I might die. A 15 pound cat hanging on my back by 8 fish hook claws. And I couldn't make him let go;) Marnie
quiltcat, thanks and I think D was a bit worried about the way she might try to get down...
Pamela Terry and Edward, Thanks, so glad you stopped by!
Marnie, Oh, what a story...I know just what you mean. Were you terribly injured? Something similar happened to me years ago when I was on the phone...our big 18+lb. orange cat Pumpkin, used to jump from the corner of the couch to the counter. I had just answered the phone, and was standing in between the counter and the couch (with my back to the couch) when he decided to jump to the counter and landed on my back! I screamed so loud into the phone, the person on the other end had no idea what had happened...and when I was finally able to speak, my explanation sounded so strange, "My cat just jumped on my back!"
Q, I could see how having a cat on your head while gardening would make one feel batty!
Naturegirl, Kita is a treat for D, for he still misses Pumpkin so much though it's been 5 years since we lost him to a bad heart. He was D's gardening buddy, so a visit from the neighbor cat is purrfect.
I'm an artist/illustrator specializing in ink and watercolors and photography. My little studio in Maine is nestled in our garden by a babbling brook. Everyday I draw inspiration from the pets who have touched my life, our garden, birds and wildlife critters, quaint old houses, children, shells, scenes of the seaside and more.
Hope to share my art and observations with you and don't forget to take a moment to notice the precious little things around you.

LOL!
I had a stray kitten a few years ago adopt me...She liked to sit on my head while I gardened. I must admit it drove me batty!
Lovely iris!
