Welcome to my Studio

Welcome to my art studio.

Since today started out cloudy and drizzly,
I decided to do some rearranging inside
my studio. You're welcomed to take a look!

Why don't we stroll down the garden path that leads to the studio.
Ellie May the artist studio cat will be watching for you
from her upstairs window.

Let's step inside the porch...

See the scarecrow over in the corner,
well, that was part of a Scarecrow Festival
last October at the Nonantum Hotel
in Kennebunkport... artists and craftspeople
were invited to display their art and crafts
outside in a big tent if they brought a scarecrow
that they made. There were some incredible
scarecrows! The wind picked up and my scarecrow
fell right over and had to be anchored with big
rocks!

Let's go inside...

In the center is a painting of Polly with
Ellie May's mouse on the couch...

The stairs lead to my work space upstairs...
I don't see Ellie May, she's probably still upstairs
in her window but she'll be down to greet you!

Oh, there's Ellie May! She's ready to go out on the porch
to look for chipmunks in the garden, her favorite
pastime.

Thanks for visiting!

ps.
I thought you might like to see who made the studio and our
house and gardens, my husband, D, who wears many hats!

Wow ... how talented you are ... I'm sure it's from the inspiration you get from your cat ... by yourself you'd be nothing ... right !!!

( My 4 cats made me say that )

Thanks for the tour! I could spend all day in your lovely studio (although I still don't think I could draw or paint very well!).

JC, Ariadone and Willoughby,
thanks so much for stopping by the studio...you made our day for it's been rather quiet around here except for the chipmunks and birds singing...we really appreciate the company!

oldcrow61, Thanks!

Gemma,
Thanks, Gemma! My studio was a dream for a very long, long, long time...I lived in a variety little apartments in the city, country and sea towns and I never had a studio, I just worked on my art any place I was; outside, on the couch, on the floor and in little corners of small rooms. It's almost like a miracle that D and I were able to build our own house for he is not a builder by trade and I'm not much of a helper with carpentry tools but together we managed on a very small budget. D is the kind of person who can do anything and knows how to figure things out, so slowly over the years our house becomes a little more completed as does the studio. D wears many hats and one is that of a gardener and from a flat field he has created an enchanting cottage garden, a lovely sanctuary and a habitat for wildlife. It's been a quite struggle (and still is) and taken many years but I am so very thankful.
I wish you the strength to follow your dreams as impossible as they may seem at times.
best wishes!

Nan, that is the most charming cottage. I love the exposed beams and the wood floors with scattered rugs. A perfect place to display your paintings.

On the previous post, what a cute potting shed. You two really have a lovely place.

Ellie Mae needs to do a little less catnapping and a little more chipmunk chasing;)

Hi Naturegirl and fur babies,
Am so glad you stopped by on this chilly morning....chilly here, too! Thanks so much for leaving such a wonderful comment! I do think we are kindred spirits! Looking forward to your visits and I look forward to visiting your Nature Trail often.
Best wishes, Nan and the kitties

Marnie,
Thanks for your comments about the studio. Maybe someday, if you ever come to Maine, you can visit in person! David made curved angles for the beams...it's a very special place and has a feeling of tranquility inside and out.
D made the potting shed out of all recycled materials from the dump!
Now that particular dump doesn't recycle building materials which is very sad.
